Suddenly that mini 12-hour challenge seems like such an easy task. I had my car then, and was thus able to easily distract myself from the sofa and the words, and only ended up reading for 9 hours or so. I’ve read now for at least 11 hours, if not more, the only distractions being phone calls, food preparation, and times in the restroom when I forgot to bring my book. I’m at the halfway point and I’ve asked Richard to bring me some Cherry Coke so I can make it through the night.
I’m more than halfway through my book, however, being 22 pages closer to the end. Maybe, just maybe that last half an hour or so of tomorrow morning may be spent starting a new book which will coerce me into extending my 24 hour challenge to a 30 hour challenge. Or maybe I will fall asleep out of utter exhaustion. We shall see.
Earlier at the start of this hour I had a massive craving for popcorn and thought that the popcorn box lied with its extra butter promises. I indulged on a recipe I invented when I was in middle school. I remember eating popcorn this way in front of my friends at a birthday sleepover and they all thought it was pretty gross, as did Richard when I once told him about it. Surprisingly, however, sugar goes really well with buttered popcorn. We don’t have any regular sugar (or salt, for that matter, even though we have several shakers), so instead I used the confectioner’s sugar that we bought for the Beignets. Not as satisfying but it diminished the craving, and I didn’t even make a mess.
