One Extra Day This Year

9:30am to 10:00am. I immediately jumped into this book. Little did I know, it would define the course of the rest of my day.

10:00am. For breakfast I had a yogurt smoothie and a bowl of oatmeal. The Magic Bullet is my divine savior.

10:30am to 11:00am. Exercise! The woman on my NutriSystem exercise DVD is really psyched to help me get into shape; she’s kind of creepy. However, it’s an excellent workout.

11:30am to 12:00pm. I spent this time trading in books (so I could buy something inspirational for my new website design which hopefully now will be coming soon) and depositing my paycheck (so I could pay for rent).

12:00pm. Today’s clouds. I just like sky pictures.

12:15pm. Driving home. I wanted to show off my spectacular pants because I’ve been losing weight on a successful diet lately and I can actually fit in these pants again. Estimated time since I’ve worn them: Seven months.

12:30pm to 1:30pm. Spent some time online - mostly waiting for Richard to get ready for work. (I have to jump his car daily, so I can’t be off doing other things until he’s gone.) I started gathering inspirational quotes.

2:00pm. After Richard finally made his way to work, I started my trek to GMU. I went there for a few reasons - my inspirational quotes (which failed due to Life of Pi), nostalgia, and wanting to get out of the house. My last leap day was probably spent sitting in the same chair reading some other book. Anyway, this is how much gas I got for $15.50.

2:40pm to 5:45pm. Ah, this is just the beginning. I didn’t expect to find myself so sucked in to this book, but when I looked up at the clock and saw what time it was, I was absolutely astonished.

5:50pm. Alas, I was starting to get hungry for dinner (which meant coming home, naturally). So I hung my first quote in a bathroom on the third floor and left hoping that my hours of reading had unintentionally made me avoid rush hour. (It did.)

6:00pm. Good-bye, beloved campus! I hope to visit you more often this year.

6:40pm. It was a rather short ride home. I went to Books-A-Million to pick up the other half of rent from Richard. (This way I could deposit it in enough time for it to show up before the check is cashed.) This quote was stuck in the bathroom there. I doubt it’s anywhere but the trashcan now.

6:45pm. This probably didn’t actually take five whole minutes to post, but here it’s sitting pretty on the mirror (in the same bathroom as mentioned above, which means it too might be residing with halfeaten scones).

7:00pm. I left another one at the customer service desk for good measure, and shortly after made my way out the door.

7:30pm. I had to take a hurried photo because someone was coming. I started to feel that anonymity was necessary for this project to be successful; I couldn’t see reactions, and no one was allowed to ask me why. I wonder though… In any case, J.M. Barrie rests on the table inside the building where my bank ATMs are located. I don’t know if anyone routinely cleans it as it’s just a room with two ATMs.

7:56pm. Here I am home again. Already I was beginning to feel the headache that comes with immense tiredness, but oh no, I wasn’t ready for bed yet…

8:00pm to 12:00am. Look familiar? Yes, I spent the rest of my night reading (and finishing) this book.

9:30pm. The only pause was for my macaroni and cheese dinner. Otherwise I lived through every word of that book.
I tried to take a photo every hour but it was really difficult once I got sucked into that book. I’m sure all my photos in the 7:00 hour make up for it, right?

Lol, cute post! I wish I’d taken some exciting photos of my leap day, but sadly I didn’t.

I love the idea of leaving inspirational things in public places. It’s so much fun, and you get to imagine strangers finding them and being happy for a moment.
And, yay, Life of Pi! It’s an excellent book. You made me want to read it again.

Cool idea Michelle to take all of these pictures and all. I enjoyed them very much! Your macaroni and cheese looks soooo cheesy! Yum! I need to lose some weight! I wish I could fit into pants I wore seven months ago.

I sometimes get a kick out of doing things like that…I used to write things on dollar bills or desks or wherever in the hope that someone would read and appreciate them. I should do it again sometime.
Life of Pi was a terrible, boring book though. I’m usually willing to give books at least a little bit of credit, but I honestly was bored to hell by it and got absolutely nothing from it. I just don’t understand why so many people are so enamored by it. Maybe I’m just spiritually broken.

Yay! Neat idea for a blog post!
I really enjoyed it!
Nutrisystem…does that video come with the meal plan thing? I’ve been wondering about that lately. I know I could do the food but I really suck at exercise, lol. Would be very cool to have both, I think I’d be able to stick to that more.
I’ve heard of that book but never read it. You might have inspired me to check it out!!

@Seth: I am also spiritually broken, but I liked it for other reasons. I can see how it would be boring (the first time I tried to read it I couldn’t get past the first few pages); perhaps you have to be in a certain state of mind?
@Melissa: Yes, the DVD comes with your welcome package, along with a bunch of information about keeping healthy, and a meal planner (the meal planner is my Jesus). NutriSystem is the only organized diet plan that has worked for me because I really love the food.
